The Journey Begins

Today high school students, Cedarville students, Student Venture staff, and other adults are flying into Chicago for our Africa Briefing.  Pray for the nearly 40 of us and those we are leaving here as we are in Africa for the next month.  We will be overnight in Chicago then at 6 pm on Thursday, June 21 we begin our first leg of two eight hour flights to Nairobi, Kenya where we will be for our first week.  Pray for us to connect as a team!  This will be the adventure of a lifetime. 

Leaving for Africa in Ten Days

It is hard to believe that in only 10 days our team will be beginning the journey to Africa for one whole month! There are still a number of things to trust God for and so pray for these items: 1) That we will come together as a team - we have students coming from California to Florida! 2) That everyone will see God raise all they need for this project - at this time some are only half way there including me. 3) That God will bring students and adults to Himself - pray John 6:44. 4) Pray for the health and safety of our team. It will be 10 years since I was last in Africa and so I have included here a video of a student who was 19 back then and still attending high school. He tells the story of what happened at his school the day we came there. Enjoy the video and please pray, pray, pray!

Pray for the Kenya/Uganda Project

With only one month to go our team of nearly 40 students and adults are in the final preparations for a month of ministry in Africa. Pray for our team to see the reminder of their financial needs to be met. I'm currently at about 36%. Pray for the hearts of the Africans we will be meeting with in both Nairobi, Kenya and Kampala, Uganda.

Uganda Team Requests

It looks like the team of high school students, Student Venture staff, and college students (three from Cedarville and several from other colleges) will be between 12-17. That is a bit of an uncertain range and for that reason we could use your prayers! Pray for those accepted to the project to track through the steps they need to take to get their passport, raise their funds, etc. in a timely manner. Pray for the 4 students who have not finished their applications and need to get the parent consent forms and references in so we can finish the process with them. Pray God raises up a prayer team for every member including our leadership team: myself and Carolyn Wiley (SV staff in Indy) as well as our finanical teams. Returning to Uganda

This summer, after my daughter's wedding to Kevin Dennis in Orlando, FL on May 13th, I will be traveling to Uganda for a one month mission into the high schools. At this point there are three Cedarville students coming with me as well as high school students from across the country, Student Venture staff, and Kenyan and Ugandan adults. While there is still much to do for this project please pray for the students and adults who will be part of this team! Our team will leave June 19th and return July 19th. It will be 10 years since I was last there! But we were asked to come by the Africans. In fact there will be 5 teams this summer into East Africa. All the teams will meet in Kenya for about one week. Three will stay in Kenya, one will travel to Tanzania, and my group will travel to Uganda. Last time I was there Loyce hoped we would send another team to help them. Finishing the Journey

As I grow older there is always the growing thought, "Am I finishing the journey well?" That is certainly my heart's desire. And yet after walking with Jesus for forty-one years I still see more that I need to learn and do! However, it is in being intentional in doing what I know at this point that is critical to finishing well not what I don't know. But I also must not stop growing too.
